The “Upper scale value” is assigned to the "Upper calibration value” (calibration 
offset in this case). This calibration data must now be transferred to the 
instrument; if required it can also be saved.  

6.9.2 

Measurements using a potentiometer 

Calibration is necessary in order to specify the relationship between the electrical 
signals measured by the connected sensors and the measured values to be 
displayed. A two-point calibration procedure is used here. Normally the sensors 
have a test and calibration certificate containing details of the electrical signals. 
The typical certificate might look like the example shown below, where the most 
important values are labeled.
