Scan for any serviceable events that include B70069

with the 12X loops. Perform problem analysis on the serviceable events to correct the problems
before continuing. If you need assistance, contact your service provider.

Verify the status of the links in the 12X loops by performing the following steps:

Choose one the following options:

If your system is managed by an HMC, perform the following steps:

From the navigation bar, expand
Systems Management

Servers

3)
Select the server you are working with.

From the Tasks area, complete the following steps:
a)
Expand
Hardware Information

Click
View Hardware Topology
.
5)
Continue with step 2b.

If your system is managed by an SDMC, perform the following steps:

On the Welcome page, click the
Resources
tab.

Expand
Hosts
.
3)
Right-click the host and select
Hardware Information
>
View Hardware Topology
.

Continue with step 2b.

Scan the Current Hardware Topology section of the Hardware Topology data to identify rows with
links that must be repaired. A row must be repaired if either the Leading Port Status column or
Trailing Port Status column contains a value other than Operational.
Exception:
Exclude any rows that represent nodes belonging to a loop with no I/O expansion
units connected. The Hardware Topology data displays a loop with no I/O expansion units as a
bus with only one associated row. That row contains a Node Type of Local NIC, a Leading Port
Status of Open/Failed, and Trailing Port Status of Open/Failed.
c.
If you identified links in step 2b with a status other than Operational, the links must be repaired
before you continue. To repair the links, repeat step 1 on page 21. If you already performed step 1
on page 21 or need assistance, contact your next level of support.

Verifying the system power control network
Check for system power control network (SPCN) errors and inactive enclosures, and fix machine type,
model, and serial number (MTMS) problems.
About this task

Choose one the following options to verify the SPCN:

If your system is not managed by a Hardware Management Console (HMC) or Systems Director
Management Console (SDMC), continue with step 2.
v
If your system is managed by an HMC, continue with step 3 on page 23.
v
If your system is managed by an SDMC, continue with step 4 on page 23.
