296/C3 Cable-Management Arm
The following procedures describe the removal and replacement of the 296/C3 cable-management arm.
Before performing the following procedures, read the “Safety Notices” on page vii.
Removing the Cable-Management Arm
To remove the 296/C3 cable-management arm, do the following:
1. Open the rear rack door.
2. From the rear of the rack unit, locate the cable-management arm located on the fixed rear portion of
the left system rail assembly.
3. Remove any cables held by the cable-management arm.
4. Remove the pins holding the cable-management arm to the flange on the fixed rear portion of the left
system rail and to the flange attached to the sliding portion of the left system rail, as shown in the
following illustration.

Replacing or Installing the Cable-Management Arm
To replace or install the 296/C3 cable-management arm, do the following:
1. From the rear of the rack unit, locate the cable-management arm flange located on the fixed rear
portion of the left system rail assembly.
2. Attach the cable-management arm to the flange with a cable-management arm pin (see illustration on
page 11).
3. Attach the other end of the cable-management arm to the flange that is attached to the sliding portion
of the left system rail assembly with a cable-management arm pin.
Note: To avoid any binding of the cable-management arm, ensure that the cable-management arm is
level.
4. Replace any cables held by the cable-management arm.
5. Close the rear rack door.
