Inspect the bushings of the cam and
of the sliding sheave of the driven pul-
ley, replace worn parts.
Inspect sliders on fixed sheave.

1. Unplug spark plug cable.
2. Clean spark plug area with pres-
surized air before removing spark
plug.
3. Unscrew spark plug completely us-
ing a spark plug socket, then re-
move it.

1. Prior to installation make sure that
the contact surface of cylinder
head and spark plug is free of
grime.
2. Using a feeler gauge, set the spark
plug gap.

0.7 to 0.8 mm
(.028 to .031 in)
Twin
cylinders
0.8 to 0.9 mm
(.031 to .035 in)
3. Coat spark plug threads with the
following anti-seize lubricant.

Cooper-based anti-seize
lubricant
4. Screw spark plug into cylinder
heads by hand and tighten with a
torque
wrench and a proper
socket.

These vehicles are equipped with a
VRLA battery (Valve Regulated Lead
Acid). It is a maintenance-free type
battery, there is no need to add water
to adjust electrolyte level.

1. Remove under seat storage com-
partment if equipped.
2. Remove battery cover by unscrew-
ing the two 1/4 turn fasteners.
1. Battery cover
3. Disconnect BLACK (-) cable first
then RED (+) cable.
