Before using the machine, make sure you have:
 Prepared the machine (see Prepare the Machine on page 6).
 Installed the Foil Cartridge you want to use (see Install the Foil Cartridge on page 12). Do not start
transferring if there is no foil in the Foil Cartridge.
 Prepared the pre-printed media onto which you want to transfer the foil using the machine.
Important
• Make sure the media you want to use is acceptable. For more information, see Media Specifications
on page 19.
• We recommend using only the media printed using Brother monochrome laser printers.
5.1 Transfer
Important
• Create a margin of 5 mm at the top of the sheet. To avoid paper jams, make sure there is no toner-based
print in the top margin.

• When using the Half-Width Foil Cartridge, make sure there is no toner-based print in the area where the
foil is not transferred to avoid paper jams.
• When using a left-justified Half-Width Foil Cartridge, you cannot transfer the foil onto sheets smaller than
A5.
• Do not start a transfer job if there is no foil in the Foil Cartridge.

Use a laser printer to print the sheet onto which you want to transfer the foil.
