2. Introduction
2.1 Validity of this document
This document describes the installation and initial
operation of the following Bosch lifting platforms:
R
VLS 5140
R
VLS 5140 A
R
VLS 5140 L
R
VLS 5140 LA
All of the models listed are scissor lifting platforms
fitted with electro-hydraulic drive.
The individual types differ in terms of their equipment
(wheel-free scissor lift, sliding plate for wheel
alignment).

The operation and method of functioning of the
lifting platforms are described in the original
operating instructions.
Floor-mounted and underfloor versions
Each of the lifting platforms listed is available in two
models:

Floor-mounted version
R
Underfloor version
The underfloor version is intended for a sunken
installation, with the runways at floor level. The
underfloor version comes equipped with different base
plates and is supplied with two drive-on flaps instead
of two drive-on ramps.
2.2 Assembly by third parties
The content of these assembly instructions must be
observed along with the information in the supplied
original instructions. If the lifting platform is not
installed by Bosch customer service or a service
outlet authorized by Bosch, the lifting platform must
subsequently undergo a safety acceptance test
performed by Bosch customer service or a service
outlet authorized by Bosch.
This safety acceptance test comprises the following:

Electrical function test and trial run as per BGG 945.
R
Examination of individual assemblies and
components.
R
Entry in test log book according to BGG 945-1.
R
Personnel instruction (safety and operation).

Failure to complete this safety acceptance test will
invalidate all warranty claims as well as our liability.

2.3.2 Internal transport
The user must provide a forklift truck for internal
transport. The center of gravity and lashing points are
marked on the packaging.
