11 Intercom and
telephone
Road safety
Using the hands-free facility while
driving can be dangerous since your
attention is reduced during a telephone
conversation.
Important note:
Ensure that you follow the regulations
in areas where there might be a risk
because of interference by the mobile
phone or a risk of a dangerous situa-
tion.
Notes:

To connect a mobile phone via
Bluetooth®, please refer to the
section entitled “Connecting/insert-
ing external devices and data stor-
age devices” (page 24).
f
Your mobile phone may not support
all the hands-free phone features
that are provided by the device.
11.1 Making an intercom call
f In the home menu, if necessary, tap the icon
of the phone tile to switch to intercom tile.
f Tap the main area of the intercom tile.
The intercom menu is displayed:
f
Tap the desired intercom connection.
The connection is called.
11.2 Starting phone mode
Note:
Bluetooth® must be turned on to start
the phone mode (please refer to the
section entitled “Further system set-
tings” (page 21)).
f
In the home menu, if necessary, tap the icon
of the intercom tile to switch to phone tile.
f
Tap the main area of the phone tile.
The phone menu is displayed.
11.3 Switching between phone and
intercom mode
To switch between phone mode and intercom
mode,
f tap the [>] button.
Note:
If more than one mobile phone is con-
nected to the device, tapping the [>]
button switches between the con-
nected phones and the intercom mode.

If provided by your mobile phone,
the Calls list will show the number
or contact name of the caller.
f
If no mobile phone is connected,
the Select Bluetooth device menu is
displayed. For more information
about the Select Bluetooth device
menu, please refer to the section
entitled “Opening the Select Blue-
tooth device menu” (page 26).
The phone status is displayed beside the name
of the connected mobile phone at the top:

: Reception (signal strength)
f
: Roaming (when you are in a roaming
area)
f
: Battery status
