The star network may be expanded to a maximum of 91
stations through “cascading”. This amounts to 3 levels of
concentrators as shown on the next page. The first

concentrator. One of its eight ports is connected to a network
card in the server. The remaining 7 ports are connected to 7
concentrators. This makes up the second

concentrators have 7 ports available which are connected to 7
workstations for a total of 42 stations on Level 2
