Once you’ve connected a new serial device to a port on one of your Serial Control
Cards, you can adjust the settings of this port to match those of the device:
1. At the Channel List, use the keyboard’s arrow keys and/or the search function
to highlight the device whose Serial Control Card port you want to configure.
2. Press [Ctrl] along with the letter “S” to edit the port’s settings. The Port
Settings menu should appear:
Terminal Control Panel
Port Settings
--------------------------------
Name web_server

Data bits 8

--------------------------------
Space - change Enter - commit
x - eXit and discard changes
NOTE
If, after pressing [Ctrl]-S, you receive the message “ERROR: Serial port
did not respond,” the Management Card cannot retrieve the current
serial-port settings from the Serial Control Card. Verify that the port
address is correct, and that the Serial Control Card is actually installed
in that slot. (For example, if the address of a device is “1C4”, it should
be attached to Port 4 of a Serial Control Card installed in slot C of
ServSwitch Multi chassis 1.) If the Serial Control Card is installed in a
different chassis from the Management Card, you might also want to
verify that the expansion cabling between the chassis hasn’t been
disconnected or broken.
3. Use your keyboard’s up- and down-arrow keys to highlight a characteristic that
you want to change.
4. Use the spacebar to toggle through the available settings for that characteristic.
When you reach the setting you want, press [Enter] to save that setting or “X”
to exit the menu without saving the change.
