Chapter 6 Dialout modem ports setup

Configuration

The Port Setup Menu should be set up as follows for both simple dial-in connections and
PPP/SLIP connections.

The following fields are important:

Field

Description

Access

Set the Access field to Dynamic (dial-in or out) or Remote (dial-
out only).

Monitor DCD

With this flag set to Yes, the terminal server will monitor the
modem signal Data Carrier Detect (DCD) - pin 8. When the
modem hangs up, pin DCD from the modem goes low and the
terminal server port will reset.

Flow Ctrl

The modem and terminal server port should be configured to
use Hardware (RTS/CTS) flow control. This will be especially
important if you are transferring binary files.

Mode

Set this field to raw.
