PREPARATION FOR ECG MODE
To prepare for ECG mode, follow the steps below, according to the selected ECG source.
MONITORING USING THE PATIENT CABLE
1. Connect the patient cable to the REANIBEX 300 connector as described in Section “
3.1
CONNECTING THE ECG CABLE
”.
2. Make sure that the packaging of the monitoring electrode pads is perfectly sealed and that the
expiry date has not passed.
3. Prepare the areas of the patient’s skin where the monitoring electrode pads are going to be
placed:
x
Remove all clothes from the patient's chest.
x
Remove chest hair from the patient if required. Do not scrape or cut the patient’s skin. Do not
place electrode pads on injured skin.
x
Clean the patient’s skin. Remove any medication patches or ointments from the patient’s
skin.
x
Do no use pure alcohol or ether to clean the patient’s skin, since these increase skin
resistance.
x
Dry the patient’s skin thoroughly with a towel or gauze to eliminate skin oil and cells and
improve electrode pad adherence. Connect the monitoring electrodes to the patient cable
before placing them on the patient.
4. Remove the electrode pads from their protective packaging and stick them firmly on the patient’s
skin one by one.
5. Refer
to
Figure 24
to see proper placement of the electrode pads. Press the perimeter of each
electrode pad to ensure that they are properly adhered to the skin.
6. Make sure that the connection cables do not pull at the electrode pads.
7. Check that the lead II is displayed.
WARNING
If monitoring is performed for long periods of time, it may be necessary to change the monitoring
electrode pads periodically. Refer to replacement instructions of the monitoring electrode
documentation.
When using the electrosurgical device, bear in mind the following guidelines to minimise interferences of
electro-surgical equipment and ensure maximum patient and user safety:
x
Keep all the patient monitoring cables away from ground, blades and the electrosurgical device
return cables.
