Outer Section Adjustment
The outer wing section of both spray booms includes a pressure relief valve plumbed into the
wing fold cylinders. In the event this section of the wing contacts an immovable object, the spring
loaded valve will allow hydraulic oil to bypass the cylinder, permitting the wing tip to breakaway
and fold rearward. To adjust the breakaway pressure:
1. Locate the pressure relief valve on the outer wing fold cylinders.
2. Remove the cap nut from
the allen head adjustment screw
located on the end of the valve.
Some hydraulic fluid may leak
from the valve, due to pressure
on the cylinder.
3. Loosen the jam nut on
the valve.
4. Using an allen wrench, turn the allen head cap screw clockwise to increase the breakaway
pressure or counterclockwise to decrease the pressure. When making adjustments, it is suggested
that you start with three complete rotations on the screw.
If the pressure relief valve is overtightened, the wing will
not break away when it contacts an immovable object. You
may also experience problems getting the boom to unfold completely, since the system
will be unable to push enough hydraulic oil over the pressure relief valve.
5. Tighten the jam nut to secure the adjustment screw and replace the cap nut.
IMPORTANT:
Remove cap nut.
