10 Connecting with Other Products
10.1 Introduction
This chapter explains the services utilizing EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP protocols
when the communication board is connected with other manufacturer’s products.
10.2 EtherNet/IP
10.2.1 Basic Protocol Structure
The EtherNet/IP is a protocol which implements the CIP (Common Industrial Protocol,
specified by the ODVA) using the TCP and UDP protocols.
Originator: Devices that make connection requests, which are also called clients. PLCs
or scanners are examples of originators.
Target: Devices that respond to connection requests, which are also called servers.
