Level 3 - Component Repair to Curcuit Boards
Theory of Circuit Operation
Main Board
2.1. Overview
A.
The Main Board includes 15 input connectors. They are HDMI input*1, component input*1,
D-sub input, RF input*1, S-Video*2, Composite*2, SCART *2, Audio input (L/R)*4 and PC
audio input.
1.
The Graphic port input includes (1) HDMI input connector, (2) PC input.
The HDMI input connector can accept digital RGB format signals. This input can support
VGA ~ 1080p PC signals and also 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p video signals.
The PC input connector can accept analog RGB format signals. This input can support VGA
~ 1080p PC signals.
The Component can accept analog YPBPR (480i,576i ,480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i) signals.
Because a HDMI decoder (AD9380) is used, this LCD TV also can decode HDCP signals.
2.
The Video port inputs (included SCART, Component YPBPR, S-video and Composite video)
will be processed by the video decoder & the de-interlace processor (PW328B).
3.
Both graphic and video port signals will be processed by the scalar. The scalar will convert
input signals into RGB 4:4:4, 24-bit signals by downscaling or up-scaling.
2.2 Graphic Port Input circuit
1 A/D-converter (AD9380) is used for converter RGB or YPBPR analog signals to digital
signals (RGB 4:4:4) which provide 24 bit true color resolution.
2. HDMI Receiver (AD9380) can support DVI and HDMI signals. It supports HDTV signals up
to 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions.
3. The EDID EEPROM (U501 & U604) is used to store the EDID data, included PC and Video
timings. The PC and HDCP video player will read the EEPROM data via EDID link in the
HDMI and D-sub connector.
