Insert batteries supplied by respecting correct polarity. Batteries with rever-
sed polarity can lead to instrument destruction. Furthermore, they may ex-
plode or ignite.
Prior to putting the instrument into service, insert the batteries. The refe-
rences as described in technical data section with respect to handling batte-
ries must be fulfilled.
Avoid any heating up of the instrument by direct sunlight to ensure perfect
functioning and long instrument life.
Remove sensor cover only shortly before measuring and always replace it imme-
diately upon completion of measurement.
In order to prevent accidents at work, please note the following:
• Tubular fluorescent lamps can create a stroboscopic effect by means of which the
perceived movement of objects is subject to optical illusion (e.g in the case of
quickly rotating jaw chucks of lathes).
• Increases in the illumination intensity are only registered if the original illuminati-
on is multiplied by a factor of at least 1.5. Illumination of working areas must not
fall below the factor 0.8 of nominal illumination intensity.
• At no time must the illumination of working areas fall below factor 0.6 of nominal
illumination intensity.
• Highly varying degrees of brightness strain the human eye very quickly (this cau-
ses adaption difficulties).
• Glare impairs a person's sight and health.
• The ageing of light sources is a factor which must be taken into consideration.
