Further standard values are listed in DIN EN 12464-1 or in special table books.
The above mentioned values are understood as standard values. They always refer
to general conditions with horizontal working surfaces at a height above ground of
0.85 m, for traffic routes at a height above ground of max. 0.2m (middle line).
References are valid for a mean ageing condition of a lighting system.
The objective of calculating illumination levels is to determine the number of lamps
necessary and, thus, the required wattage. Although a detailed calculation of illumi-
nation values is not feasible within the constraints of this leaflet, it is possible to pro-
vide the reader with a simple, approximate example, using the watt rule (please refer
to calculation example).
