Unpacking Cytomat Devices
Cytomat devices should be unpacked prior to the arrival of the Beckman Coulter Field Service
Engineer.
NOTE
Refer to the tables in
for more information about Cytomat device crate
dimensions and weights.
To unpack any of the Cytomat units:
CAUTION
The Cytomat weighs 110 – 331 pounds (50 - 150 Kilograms). To avoid injury, follow
your safety officer’s instructions regarding lifting heavy objects.
NOTE
Before unpacking a Cytomat 6001 incubator or microplate hotel, unpack and set up the optical table
the device will occupy (see
Setting Up a 1 m x 1 m Optical Table for the Cytomat 6001
). The Cytomat 2C
incubator is supplied with a custom-sized table that is set up by the field service engineer.
1
Remove the top panel of the crate with a Phillips-head screwdriver and set it aside.
WARNING
To prevent the side panels from falling on the person unpacking a Cytomat device,
a second person must hold each panel while the screws are removed.
2
Remove the screws along the bottom and side of one panel of the crate and set it aside.
3
If unpacking an incubator, slide the shelf from the crate.
NOTE
The microplate hotel crate does not include a shelf.
4
Remove the screws from the other panels and set the panels aside. Discard the screws.
5
Remove and discard the bag covering the Cytomat unit.
6
With two to four people, lift the instrument straight up and set it on an optical table.
NOTE
The Cytomat 2C incubator cannot be placed on the custom-sized table provided until the field
service engineer sets up the table.
