Custom PRT Sensors
Although MC4 has a wealth of pre entered standard

T
emperature (PRT) type RTD sensors, some additional
sensors definitions may be needed. This especially when a PRT
sensor is used as a reference sensor. These sensors often have
custom coefficients in their Callendar - van Dusen equation.
More of Callendar - van Dusen equation in chapter
Callendar - van
Dusen Equation
on page 107.
Creating Custom PRT Sensors
You may create up to 100 custom PRT sensors.
To create a custom PRT sensor, configure one of the Basic State's
windows (select
F1
/
Setup
or
F2
/
Setup
) for PRT sensor
measurement or PRT sensor simulation. While configuring, open the
Sensor
combo and select the
Create New
option. A window for
defining the coefficients for the Callendar - van Dusen equation
opens. Give the sensor a name and enter the coefficients (for
reference sensors the coefficients can be found in their calibration
certificate). Then save the sensor definition.
Saved custom PRT sensors can be seen in the PRT sensor list. To
separate them from pre entered sensors, they are prefixed "User:"
and the row with a custom PRT sensor ends with a chevron pointing
right ( ). This indicates that the sensor may be edited.
Notes.
Make sure you do not run any tasks found in the
Tools
menu (e.g
Scaling) while editing a custom PRT sensor. All
Tools
menu tasks
utilize the custom PRT sensor as it was when starting the task.
