Printhead (extruder)
Before every print, we recommend wiping the heated nozzle (to approx. 220°C) with a
cotton cloth to remove the rest of the molten filament. Use leather work gloves for this
operation. Take extra care - risk of burns!
Otherwise, the print head does not usually require specific maintenance.
However, if the filament becomes stuck and can no longer be expelled even after the
nozzle is heated, remove the nozzle and the interior (heatbreak) as follows:
✓
remove FAN2 ventilator and place it on the extruder motor
✓
remove the nozzle blower
✓
remove the silicone cover from the nozzle
✓
allow the nozzle to warm up to 220°
-
230°
✓
hold the aluminium cube (heatblock) with key 20 and loosen the nozzle (key 7)
✓
let cool!
✓
remove the heater and the temperature sensor
✓
refit the nozzle and slightly tighten it
✓
grab the cube and carefully rotate the entire interior (heatbreak) anti-clockwise
✓
replace or clean nozzle and heatbreak
✓
reassembly is in reverse order
✓
before the nozzle's final tightening, it is
necessary to let the nozzle heat up to 240°
again, carefully grasp it with a wrench 20 and feel the heat with a wrench 7 - this also
applies when replacing the nozzle (detailed procedure p. 33)
✓
switch off the heating and let the nozzle cool down
✓
refit the nozzle blower and the ventilator
✓
perform the process of introducing the printing string (filament)
