Print pad calibration
After the device has been completely assembled, the print pad must be calibrated.
This step is very important and fundamentally affects the first layer's adhesion to the surface,
therefore the print quality and the overall result. For this reason, we recommend that you are very
careful when performing this operation. Calibration is only performed electronically (mapping pad
irregularities to the printer's memory). Mechanical calibration is also possible, but is only performed
during a service intervention (e.g., heated pad replacement). Mechanical adjustment see chapter 6.2
in the maintenance section.
Printing pad
PEI printing surface
steel plate
adhesive magnetic layer
heated aluminium pad
The printing pad is provided with a magnetic layer which holds a
removable steel plate with a PEI surface (bronze colour). PEI surface is a
special plastic for better first layer adhesion without the need for prior
treatment (such as adhesive, 3DLAC, etc.) - except for ABS printing,
nothing needs to be applied to the substrate. In the case of ABS printing,
we recommend applying an adhesive such as Kores for better adhesion
and attaching the plate to paper clips when printing larger prints.
After printing and when the pad has cooled down, remove the steel plate
and bend the pad to separate the print from the pad.
Do not use sharp
objects to remove the printout as this may damage the print layer!
