The filter must be changed when the engine is cold to avoid the risk of
fire from spilled fuel on hot surfaces.
3.2 Fuel Filter Replacement
Do not fill the new fuel filter with fuel before assembly. There is a risk that
contamination could get into the system and cause malfunctions or damage.
Drain Water and Sediment At Primary Fuel Filter.

1. Locate the Fuel Filter and Water Separator.
(Fig-5)
Ÿ
Open the Gullwing Door to access the
engine compartment. See Chapter 60
SHROUDING for instructions to open
Gullwing Door.
Follow steps in Section 5 of your Cummins
manual for changing the Fuel Filter.
3.3 Checking and Changing Engine Coolant
Do not open the filler cap when the
engine is warm. Steam or hot fluid could
spray out.

Check condition and clean radiator
Ÿ
Check radiator pressure cap
Follow the steps in your Cummins manual for
maintaining the cooling system of your diesel engine.

To access the Radiator Filler Cap, OPEN the Access Panel
on top of Shrouding behind Cab. (Fig-6)

Check coolant level and concentration
Ÿ
Flush coolant system
Locate the Radiator Filler Cap (Fig-6) & Radiator Drain
Plug (Fig-7).
A ball valve located on the hose between the
tank and inlet fitting of the water seperator
can be used to aid in filter changes.
