Proper usage
Proper usage of X8 tiles
•
No part of the X8 tile can come in contact with any type of corrosive substance.
•
Using the LED product in an environment with high corrosive gasses (e.g. Sulphur) can lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a change in brightness of the product. This could lead to uniformity differences and possibly also to
failures. Each use of the product in this kind of environment needs to be checked up-front with the supplier.
•
X8 tiles are to be used in environments meeting the operating speci
fi
cations.
•
X8 tiles are not to be used in environments that are subject to airborne contaminants such as that produced by smoke machines
(cracked oil) or similar (these deposit a thin layer of greasy residue upon the LEDs optics, degrading performance).
•
X8 tiles are not to be exposed to extreme localized heat or cold exceeding the temperature speci
fi
cations.
•
X8 tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will cause any part of the display to heat beyond what occurs
during normal operation. Such situations include but are not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, or any type of substance that
prevents proper ventilation and heat radiation of the X8 tiles.
•
Power connected to the X8 tiles must meet the speci
fi
cations outlined in the installation manual.
•
Avoid any accidental bumping of the tile corners while installing or removing the X8 tiles. Since LED’s of the X8 tiles are mounted
near by the edges of the LED boards, which is unavoidable in the design of a high resolution LED-wall, the corners of the X8
tiles become sensitive for mechanical damage. Because of that it is required to handle the X8 tiles with care at all times.
•
X8 tiles which are not installed and which are not securely stored in an X8
fl
ight case, may only be placed vertically upon
fl
at
surfaces free of clutter. Make sure that the X8 tile does not rest upon the bottom row of LED’s but upon the provide studs at
the bottom of the rental frame.
•
While removing or installing the X8 module always keep the LED side of the X8 tile parallel with the LED side of the remaining
neighboring X8 tiles. This to avoid any mechanical stress upon the corners of the X8 module.
•
No force can be applied to the LED’s. Any LED’s damaged due to mechanical stress are not covered by the warranty.
•
Safety and functional features of the display cannot be defeated.
•
It is not allowed to climb or hang any additional equipment on the back of an X8 wall. Nothing is to be allowed to hang from the
cables of an X8 tile.
•
Any failures must be immediately and appropriately dealt with (equipment returned to Barco). Failing equipment cannot be left
to run in a wall.
•
No additional tools (hammers, pry-bars, etc.) are to be used to force handles or locks into place. All moving parts should be
managed by hand.
•
Only Barco cables speci
fi
ed to be used with the X8 display are to be used to connect components in the X8 wall. Further, care
must be taken to connect signal only according to the installation manual.
•
X8 tiles are not to be used in the vicinity of any equipment that is not CE and UL/ETL certi
fi
ed.
•
X8 tiles are not to be transported for any distance in containers other than Barco
fl
ight cases or Barco single unit packaging.
Further, even the use of Barco
fl
ight cases or packaging material does not guarantee the X8 tiles against damage due to
excessive force of impacts. All warranty claims regarding damaged X8 tiles due to incorrect packing will be rendered invalid.
•
X8 tiles are not to be connected to any non-Barco equipment (the X8 tiles are NOT HDMI compatible devices, despite the use
of HDMI-style connectors).
•
When stacking X8 tiles, only Barco X8 feet can be used, and they must be leveled according to the manual before installing X8
tiles. Improper leveling can result in excessive forces on the structural components of the X8 tiles.
•
When hanging X8 tiles, only Barco X8 trusses can be used and they must be installed and connected according to the manual.
Improper hanging of X8 tiles can result in excessive forces on the structural components of the X8 tiles.
•
When stacking or hanging X8 tiles, the guidelines outlined in the installation manual must be followed to prevent movement
of the display (including tipping). Further, X8 tiles are only to be installed vertically. Any tipping of a display will cause undue
stress on the structural components of the X8 tiles, and could even allow the X8 wall to fall.
•
When stacking X8 tiles, the X8 stacker must be used.
•
When reconnecting components in an X8 tile, care must be taken to ensure that cables are carefully routed according to the
installation manual to prevent damage to the cables or other parts of the X8 tile.
•
Shaders can only be removed using the approved shader removal tool and the method described in the X8 manual(s).
•
X8 tiles can be cleaned only in accordance to the procedures de
fi
ned in the X8 manual(s).
•
Ensure rigging hardware is able to handle the weight of the entire X8 system with appropriate safety factors.
•
External rigging hardware must be properly installed prior to hanging X8 tiles.
•
Do not hang more than 13 X8 tiles (11 m) tall with the integral rigging hardware.
•
Barco supplies a variety of stacking and hanging accessories for screens up to 3 tiles stacked or 13 tiles hanging.
