Hybrid functions, risks
Your Touring, Sports or Mobility Hybrid bike is normally an approved bicycle, to be used in
public traffic or it is sports equipment, like the XHybrid, to be employed on private premises
and off-road.
The 250 Watt electric motor of your Hybrid bike supports you during pedaling, up to a speed of
25 km/h or 15mph. You can proceed faster by muscle power, but you should not exceed a
speed of over 45 km/h. Your Pedelec is build more solid and it has more weight, than a simple
bicycle, because of the electric drive system. It provides up to 2 ½ times of driver’s power in the
hybrid mode, though it allows for higher average speed and easier hill climbing.
In the European Union, no driver's license or insurance is required for Pedelecs. The driver must
be over 14 years old and having the physical and mental ability, to lead a bicycle safely. With a
Highway Code compliant Pedelec, you take part in public traffic like a regular bike and go for
example on marked bike lanes. However, the rules for bikes and Pedelecs vary in some EU
countries. So please be aware and comply with the rules applicable to your region.
Funktionen
Your Hybrid bike has all basic functions of a standard bicycle and also operates without motor
power in the ‘turn off’ mode. I you want to ‘turn on’ the system, you have three alternatives
Attach the operating computer on the handlebar holder
(the system turns on automatically)
Press the power bottom on the operating computer
(provided the computer is attached)
Press the switch on the battery side
(e. g. to check power)
Note:
During ‘switch on’ you should not use the pedals, otherwise the bottom bracket sensors of
the drive system are set incorrectly and you will not get the full motor support.
The system will
detect such incorrect settings and show on the display the request "
release pedals
." Then turn off
the system and switch it on again after ‘release of the pedeals’.
If you start a powered system by pedaling, the motor support will be activated automatically, in
minimum at a speed of 6 km/h or after one crank rotation (with regard the function ‘push
assistance’ see chapter Commissioning and operating).
