CMS-6000 Media Server Alarm Connections
The CMS-6000 can be connected to a Central Office (CO) alarm system. The CMS-6000 has
three sets of relays for generating CO alarms. When connected to external alarm monitoring
equipment, the relays provide audible alarms (bells, chimes, and gongs) and visible indicators
(red and amber lights) in the CO. Audible indicators are available for critical, major, and minor
alarms. If you want to connect to a CO alarm system, you must provide an alarm cable with a
properly configured DB-25 pin connector. Details on fabricating the external alarm cable and
connector are provided in “Appendix E: External Alarm Cabling Specifications” of Convedia
CMS-6000 Installation and Operations Manual.
To connect to external alarms, follow these steps:
1. Connect CMS-6000 Media Server end of the external alarm cable to the DB-25 connector
on the back of the CMS-6000 Media Server marked “Alarm I/O.”
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the external alarm monitoring equipment.
