CMS-1000 Media Server DC Power
The CMS-1000 Media Server uses dual DC power feeds.
CMS-1000 Media Server Grounding
On DC models, it is extremely important to ground the media server properly. (Grounding is not
required on AC models.) After rack-mounting the media server, ground it using the ground cable
that was shipped with your system, and the chassis ground clamp on the back of the media
server. The ground cable shipped with your system has the wire stripped at the media server
end of the cable, to expose a short length of copper wire.
To ground the media server, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the ground cable that was shipped with your system.
2. Strip the cable further, if necessary, to expose approximately 1/2 inch of copper wire on the
media server end of the cable.
3. Loosen the chassis ground clamp screw, to expose the hole in the ground clamp.
4. Insert the exposed wire of the ground cable into the bottom of the ground clamp hole.
5. Push the wire up through the hole until it exits from the top of the clamp.
6. Replace the ground clamp screw and tighten it so that the exposed wire is crimped by the
screw.
7. When the media server end of the ground cable is securely connected to the chassis
ground clamp, connect the other end of the ground cable to earth ground.
