Operation
Operating the machine in difficult conditions
High temperature
Since the highest recommended temperature for the hydraulic system is 80 ºC, the user must recognise that
too high a temperature may damage the machine or its parts. Thus, it is important to monitor the machine
in hot conditions, so that it does not overheat.
To be noted in hot conditions:
• To be noted in hot circumstances:
• Continuous drilling generates the most heat.
• Increase ventilation in the work place, if possible.
• The temperature of the hydraulic oil increases, if the attachment is not suitable for the machine.
• In hot conditions, cool down the machine with compressed air.
• Remember to check the machine’s condition daily; leaks in pumps and valves cause inefficiency and overheating.
• The higher you are from the sea level, the slower the machine cools down.
• The maximum temperature for the rubber tracks is 70 ºC, therefore use the steel tracks if necessary.
• If the surrounding temperature is over 40 ºC, you must arrange additional cooling.
Low temperature
Do not use the machine’s full power until the temperature of the hydraulic oil has risen above 10 ºC. When
the temperature is below 0 ºC, follow the instructions for cold starting:
• In frosty weather, the hydraulic oil must be heated.
• Set the machine on outriggers and run the motors for 10 -15 minutes.
• Switch to Boom mode and use the cylinders of the boom system without loading them.
• Rotate the tower a few times.
The lowest operational temperature for the machine depends on the quality of the hydraulic oil used.
Water
It is possible to use the machine outside and in damp conditions. The machine must not however be
used, under any circumstances, when there is a possibility that water might penetrate into the electrical
equipment, as the parts might get damaged.
If, for some reason, water has leaked into the electrical equipment, the machine must not be started up. The
motor must be disassembled and dried carefully, and the transformer and the contactors must be replaced.
In this case, you should also contact the machine supplier or an electrician.
Danger of fire and explosion
If the cables and connectors of the machine fulfil the quality requirements, the machine
may be used in places that have been classified as inflammable. However, the machine
must not be used in places that have been classified as explosive.
