IntelliSight Camera Cables
IntelliSight Cameras communicate with the IntelliSight Processor in the traffic
cabinet across a communications network.
The Ethernet cables also carry power to the cameras and provide
communications between the IntelliSight Camera and the IntelliSight Processor
via the PoE switch. The cable used to connect the IntelliSight Cameras to the
IntelliSight Processor should be a CAT5e or a CAT6 outdoor rated cable. The
maximum recommended distance is 100m (300 ft) without an extender.
Camera wire is terminated at both ends with Rj-45 connectors.
NOTE:
A maximum of four IntelliSight Cameras can be connected to the
IntelliSight Processor.
Use the following guidelines to install the Ethernet cable between the
IntelliSight Camera junction location and the traffic control cabinet. The cable
can be installed to the IntelliSight Camera by pulling it up the pole or dropping it
down the pole, whichever is more convenient.
1. As the site plans directs, pull the cable through an underground conduit. The
cable may also run overhead.
2. To avoid moisture seeping into connections, install all Ethernet cables in a
continuous run (with no extenders), where possible.
3. Label each cable entering the traffic control cabinet to correspond to the
IntelliSight Camera to which it is connected.
4. Terminate the labeled cables with RJ-45 connectors according to the
agency’s standard practices.
