4.2.
Operation Without Spare Drive
• Depending on the design of the subsystem, the defective drive can be replaced
without shutting down the system (hot-swapping). Alternatively, the system
can be shut down at a convenient time and the failed drive replaced.
•
If the replacement drive is installed on the same channel and ID number, you
can then proceed to data rebuilding.
•
If the replacement drive is installed on a different channel or ID number, it has
to be “Scan” in as a new drive and then assigned as a spare drive of the logical
drive. Data rebuilding will have to be manually initiated as instructed in the
following section.

Data Rebuilding Via Text RAID Manager
Data rebuilding can be done through running RAIDMAN.EXE under DOS.
