Power consumption
6.2.1
Absorbed power calculation
Using the information shown in the power column of the technical data tables, it is possible to calculate the maximum power consumption of
the selected configuration. To calculate the total power consumption, it is needed to add to the power consumption of the basic system the
power consumption of each variant or option selected.
6.2.2
How to define power cosumption
The 24V DC power consumption unit is Watt [W], it is indicated into the column POWER and it is calculated according to the following criteria:
•
The power consumption is calculated considering the maximum absorbed power of each component. The calculated value is then multi-
plied by the internal power supply unit efficiency coefficient.
•
The Intel
®
Core
TM
microprocessors with Turbo mode, rise up their typical power consumption for a short time period (5-10sec), the indi-
cated value d
oesn’t take care of this phenomenon.
•
The
LCD
power consumption value is referred to the maximum LCD brightness.
•
The
SSD, CF or CFast
power consumption value depends on the storage size. For easy calculation, we have reported the power con-
sumption of the biggest storage size available.
•
The power consumption value doesn’t take care of the USB devices connectable to the system.
The connected USB devices effective
consumption have to be considered and added to the total power consumption value. We underline that a
USB 2.0 device can consume
3,3W max and a USB 3.0 device can consume 5,9W.
These values are calculated multiplying the maximum ports power consumption
defined into the USB standard (2.5W and 4,5W) by the coefficient that represent the internal power supply efficiency.
•
The power consumption of the basic systems configuration with
expansion slots
, includes the maximum power absorption admitted
for any possibly installed board.
