8.2 SSD storage device
The system is delivered with a Solid State Storage Device M.2. (SSD).
To maximize the life duration of the SSD M.2. you can:
• avoid using the SSD as swap partition, if it is not necessary
o
in case the swap partition is required, set a low value for swappiness (0 .. 5); for example (in /etc/rc.local):

echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
• mount the SSD using the following parameters in /etc/fstab
o
noatime,nodiratime
• enable the TRIM of the SSD mounted filesystems, for example adding, in /etc/rc.local, the command

fstrim /
Note: you can also trim continuously the filesystem using the parameter “ discard ” in the /etc/fstab file, but, since it applies TRIM instantly on
every file deletion, it can be slow down the system.
Note: don’t trim the swa p partition (it is already managed by the system).
Note5: you can also start the “trim” operation periodically, using cron.
