Maintenance ESM cutter bar
32
5. Check the blades for damage to the cutter blades. Have
dull blades re-sharpened.
6. Oil all sliding and guiding surfaces.
7. Reinstall the blades in reverse order.
Notice
There is a risk of damage to the rubber blocks if the upper
blade guide arms are left open for a long time.
► Do not leave the upper blade guide arms in the open
position for a long time.
Notice
Risk of damage due to incorrect installation of the blades.
► When fitting the blades, make sure that the drive pins of
the guide blades are inserted into the drive sleeves of
the lower blade guide arms and are sufficiently greased.
Dismantle the blades before prolonged storage. Store the
blade in a clean, dry and closed room and out of reach of un-
authorised persons.
Checking the blade driver
Check the clearance between the blade driver and the drive
element. If there is too much clearance, the blades can
break.
Non-adjustable blade drivers must be replaced if the clear-
ance is > 1 mm.
Adjusting the blade guide plates
1
2
The blade guide plates (
1
) prevent the blades from jumping
up and bending when they hit an object.
1. Move the upper blade to the outermost position.
2. Slacken the screws (
2
).
3. Move the blade guide plate (
1
) in the direction of the
blades. The distance between the plate and the blades
must be at least 1 - 2 mm.
4. Tighten the screws (
2
).
5. Adjust the other blade guide plate in the same way.
Resharpening the blades
For a clean cut and trouble-free mowing result, only mow with
a sharp and undamaged blade.
Have the blade sharpened regularly (authorised service
centre). Sharpen the cutting edges of the double blades at an
angle of 40°.
Notice
Risk of damage due to incorrect resharpening.
► Do not allow the blade edges to turn blue when re-
sharpening. Otherwise the blades will dull more quickly.
Changing the blades
To change the blades, proceed as described in the chapter
Servicing the cutter bar“. Replace the blades.
Only use original spare parts from AS-Motor.
Checking coupling for working tool
Check the function of the coupling by disengaging the work-
ing tool at maximum permissible engine speed. The working
tool must come to a complete stop within a few seconds.
Contact an authorised service centre if this is not the case.
Checking the oil level of the blade drive
1
1. Place the device on a level surface.
2. Unscrew the screw plug (
1
) to check the oil level. Check if
oil is leaking.
3. If necessary, top up with oil.
