SharpStreamer™ Pro PCIE-7210 Installation and Use ( 6806800U29D)
119
The following steps are executed when the BMC is ready and you have pressed the power
button:
1. The BMC turns on the 12V payload (main) power and switches the power button
LED to permanently ON.
2. Power is provided to all PCIe slots and onboard devices. Any PCIe I/O (downstream)
card will power-up now and an Artesyn host card (PCIE-7410) will be ready to be
powered-up.
3. The BMC powers-up the Management CPU, which is currently the first CPU of the
PCIE-7410 in slot 1.
4. The Management CPU boots and loads Linux from its selected boot device (by
default the onboard Micro-SD Card).
5. At a specific time during Linux startup, the MCCS service is started on the
Management CPU.
6. The MCCS service discovers all PCIe cards and checks if the PCIe configuration is
valid. If it is not a new configuration, an automatic reboot is performed. (If a reboot
is performed, then the sequence restarts from step 4.
7. The MCCS service powers Application CPUs (aCPUs) of all Artesyn host cards.
7.6.1.2
MCCS service startup details
The MCCS service is installed by default on each PCIE-7410 CPU, but starts only when the CPU
is the Management CPU (currently Slot 1, CPU 1).
At startup, the MCCS service discovers all PCIe card information. Depending on the MCCS
configuration file either this information or a manual user specific PCIe configuration is used
and compared against the current hardware device configuration. If it differs, the current
configuration is written to the device and the Management CPU automatically reboots
afterwards. After reboot, both the configurations match and the MCCS service continues.
The following cases cause a PCIe configuration mismatch and lead to automatic reboot:
If a PCIE-7410 card is newly inserted into an empty slot
If a PCIE-7410 card is extracted
