5. Place a new gasket into position on the cylinder.
Place the alignment pins into position; then place
the head assembly into position on the cylinder
making sure the cam chain is routed through the
chain cavity.

6. Install two alignment pins into the top of the cylin-
der head as illustrated.

7. Make sure the crankshaft is positioned at TDC;
then install the camshaft with the single large ref-
erence hole (A) directed up and the two small tim-
ing holes (B) parallel to the top of the cylinder
head.

8. Place the camshaft holder into position on the cyl-
inder head making sure the camshaft bearings are
seated correctly; then install four flat washers (A)
and four nuts (B). Tighten in a crisscross pattern to
15 ft-lb.
CAUTION
Keep tension on the cam chain to avoid damaging the
crankcase boss.
