2. Using the Pinion Gear/Shaft Removal Tool and a
hammer, remove the pinion gear from the gear case
housing.

3. Secure the pinion gear in a bearing puller; then
remove the pinion bearing using a press. Account for
a collar and a bearing.

4. Remove any reusable parts from the gear case hous-
ing; then discard the housing and lock collar.
Assembling Pinion Gear
1. Install the bearing onto the pinion shaft. Install the
pinion shaft collar.

2. Place the pinion assembly in a bearing puller; then
install the bearing using a press.

3. Using a propane torch, heat the gear case housing to
approximately 200° F; then install the pinion assem-
bly.
4. Install the internal snap ring with the sharp side
directed away from the bearing.
