INSPECTING CENTRIFUGAL
CLUTCH HOUSING
1. Inspect the clutch housing for burns, marks, scuffs,
cracks, scratches, or uneven wear.
2. If the housing is damaged in any way, the housing
must be replaced.
INSPECTING PRIMARY ONE-WAY
DRIVE
1. Place the one-way clutch onto the clutch shoe assem-
bly with the green dot or the word “OUTSIDE”
directed away from the clutch shoe.

2. Place the clutch housing onto the clutch
shoe/one-way clutch.
NOTE: It will be necessary to rotate the clutch hous-
ing counterclockwise to properly seat the one-way
clutch.

3. Check that the clutch shoe can only be rotated coun-
terclockwise in respect to the clutch housing. If the
clutch shoe locks up or turns either direction, the
one-way clutch must be replaced.

INSPECTING OIL PUMP
1. Inspect the pump for damage.
2. It is inadvisable to remove the screw securing the
pump halves. If the oil pump is damaged, it must be
replaced.
NOTE: The oil pump is a non-serviceable compo-
nent and must be replaced as a complete assembly.
DRIVEN PULLEY ASSEMBLY
NOTE: The driven pulley assembly is a non-service-
able component and must be replaced as a complete
assembly.
Installing Right-Side
Components
A. Oil Pump
1. Place two alignment pins and the oil pump into posi-
tion on the crankcase and secure with the Phil-
lips-head screws coated with blue Loctite #243.
Tighten to 8 ft-lb.

2. Place the thrust washer and drive pin into position on
the oil pump shaft, install the oil pump driven gear
making sure the recessed side of the gear is directed
inward, and secure with a new snap ring.
