// 6. RIDING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Checks and maintenance work when preparing for use
Inspect your vehicle each time you use it to make sure the vehicle is in safe operating condition. Always
follow the inspection and maintenance procedures and schedules described in the Owner’s Manual.
Fuel
• Check fuel level in fuel tank. ( .29)
• Refuel if necessary.
• Check fuel line for leakage.
• Check fuel tank breather hose for obstructions, cracks or damage, and check hose
connection.
Engine oil
• Check oil level in oil tank. ( .78)
• If necessary, add recommended oil to specified level.
• Check vehicle for oil leakage.
Brakes
• Check the brake fluid level of the front brake.( .49)
• Check the rear brake fluid level. ( .49)
• Check the front brake linings. ( .52)
• Check the rear brake linings. ( .52)
• Check that the brake system is functioning properly.
Chain
• Check for chain dirt accumulation. ( .69)
• Check the chain, rear sprocket, engine sprocket, and chain guide. ( .71)
• Check the chain tension. ( .70)
Wheels
• Check the tire condition. ( .56)
• Check the tire air pressure. ( .57)
• Check the spoke tension. ( .57)
Air filter
• Check the air filter. ( .68)
Controls
• Check the settings of all controls and ensure that they can be operated smoothly.
Screws
• Check all screws, nuts and hose clamps regularly for tightness.

equipment damage. Do not operate the vehicle if you find any problem. If a problem cannot
be corrected by the procedures provided in this manual, have the vehicle inspected by a

6.2 Starting
Always carry out these checks before each departure to ensure that the vehicle can be driven safely.
Always follow the inspection and maintenance procedures and intervals in this owner’s manual.
Always make sure there is sufficient ventilation when running the engine.
Use an effective exhaust extraction system when starting or running the engine in
an enclosed space.
