2.4 Basic safety guidelines
Before starting the log loader:
l
Observe the labels and warnings on your log loader.
l
Familiarize yourself with the log loader's emergency stop procedure.
l
Ensure that all controls are in neutral before starting the tractor engine.
l
Immediately replace any defective or worn parts.
NOTE:
See "Maintenance" on page 49 for a complete description
of the required maintenance and adjustments.
While operating the log loader:
l
Keep hands and feet away from moving parts.
l
Wear protective clothing. Avoid scarves and loose clothing (pants, shirts or coats) that may
get stuck in the equipment’s moving parts.
l
Wear suitable hearing protection to reduce the risk of partial or total hearing loss from
continued exposure to noise from the log loader.
l
Wear a hard hat and safety goggles.
l
For evening or night work, ensure that the lighting is sufficient to work safely.
l
Keep a working fire extinguisher handy.
l
Always leave protective screens and other safety devices in place. If these parts are removed
or damaged, do not use the log loader until they have been fixed or replaced.
At the end of the workday, remember to shut off the fuel supply to the hydraulic power unit (see
Figure 4).
