7.

Check to see that the Slave performs a self-test.

The Slave will temporarily illuminate all port LEDs in sequence,
beginning with port 1 and continuing with port 2, port 3 and so
forth. The self-test recurs until a port is connected.

8.

Align the backplane connector with the interrepeater bus connector on
the back panel of the Slave.

9.

Insert the backplane assembly gently in place and make sure it is
firmly seated.

Note

When inserting or removing a hub module, the power cord should remain
plugged in. The module must be disconnected from the backplane before
the power cord is unplugged. If a fault occurs (Fault light stays ON),
disengage the backplane from the Slave, unplug and replug the power cord,
and re-seat the backplane.

10. Plug in your data cables to the hub and the network.

The Link indicator should illuminate for each connected port on the
Slave module.

If one or more of the ports are in use on the Slave module, the
Activity indicator will illuminate.

Your AT-3624TS repeater is now active in the chassis, serving as a non-
managed hub.

Installing the AT-3624TS in a managed hub configuration

The following procedure details how to install an AT-3624TS in a managed
hub configuration in a rackmount chassis. This example is based on the
following assumptions:

You are working with a four-slot rackmount chassis

Three of the four slots in the chassis will be populated

A Master has been installed in slot one

A Backup has been installed in slot two

You will install a Slave in slot three, leaving slot four empty

1.

Remove the interrepeater bus dust cover on the back panel of the
module before installing the unit in a rackmount chassis.

2.

Remove the rubber feet from the Slaves.

3.

Reinstall the screws once the rubber feet are off.

Note

After removing the rubber feet, it is important to reinstall the screws or the
module will expand. (Also see Chapter 2, “Hardware Installation” on
page 7.)
