
6.3 Opening
During manual cleaning, it is necessary to open the plate heat exchanger to
clean the plates.
NOTE
Before opening the plate heat exchanger, check the warranty conditions. If
in any doubt, contact the Alfa Laval sales representative. See Section
in Chapter

The plate heat exchanger can be hot.
Wait until the plate heat exchanger has cooled down to about 40 °C (104
°F).

6.3.1 Bolt configuration
The bolt configuration of the plate heat exchanger varies between different
models. The major force of the plate pack is held by the tightening bolts (TB).
To distribute the force evenly over the frame plate and pressure plate, locking
bolts (LB) are used as well. The locking bolts can be shorter and can have
smaller dimensions. In the opening and closing procedure, it is important to
identify the tightening bolts (TB) and the locking bolts (LB). See the illustration
below.
