If uRPF is in loose mode, uRPF check succeeds.



If uRPF is in strict mode, then:



uRPF check succeeds if one of the following is true:



The source IP address of the packet matches any of the routes that can be
originated from this specific interface.



The source IP address of the packet doesn’t match any specific routes in the
forwarding table.



uRPF check fails if the following is true:



The source IP address of the packet matches a route in the forwarding table, but
the next-hop of the route is not on this specific interface.

If the source IP address matches a discard/blackhole route, the packet is treated as if it failed uRPF
check.
