QUEUING DISTRIBUTION AMPLIFIER
PN 78724
PN 78724-1 with VCR/CD-I Interface

A Queuing Distribution Amplifier (QDA) is required in a VistaCam Omni ic 4 multi-operatory network
installation with a centrally located printer at a base station. The QDA is connected, in line, before the
printer and functions as the printer’s gate keeper. It allows each operatory to send a PRINT signal to the
printer while amplifying the video signal and providing privacy for the patient. The QDA receives print
commands from the individual operatories and then generates required printer signals for processing in the
order the print commands were received.

If a PRINT command is sent from more than one operatory at approximately the same time, or sent when
the printer has not yet completed printing, there is a delay until the printer is ready to accept the next
PRINT command held in sequence by the QDA. When the printer is busy, the following occurs on the
monitor:

n

The on-screen frame (QUAD image format) or icon (SINGLE image format) disappears.

n

The image remains frozen in the VistaCam Omni 4.

n

When the printer has captured the image from the operatory, the on-screen frame or icon  reappears
on the monitor in that operatory and the image is no longer frozen.

The QDA includes a character generator which automatically prints the number of the originating
operatory on the printout in the lower left hand corner.
