ENGINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM (CONT’D)

Replacing Oil And Filter (Cont’d)

Open the engine cover (Item 1) [Figure 10-90-4].

Figure 10-90-5

Remove the oil filter (Item 1) [Figure 10-90-5].

Clean the filter housing surface.

Put clean oil on the new oil filter gasket. Install the filter
and hand tighten.

Remove the fill cap (Item 1) [Figure 10-90-6].

Put oil in the engine. (See Fluid Capacities on Page
SPEC-10-4.) (See Oil Chart on Page 10-90-1.)

Install the fill cap, start the engine and let it run for several
minutes.

Stop the engine, and check for leaks at the oil filter.

Let the engine cool.

Remove the dipstick (Item 1) [Figure 10-90-7] and check
the oil level. Add oil as needed if it is not at the top mark
on the dipstick.

Recycle or dispose of the fluid in an environmentally safe
manner. Reinstall the dipstick.
