Important: The brewing unit can only
be removed if the appliance is turned
off with the ON/OFF key
at the
front of the machine. It should not be
disconnected from the mains.
Attempting to remove the brewing
unit when the appliance is on may
cause serious damage.

Wash the brewing unit under running
water, without using detergents.
Never
wash the brewing unit in the dish-
washer.

Clean the inside of the appliance thor-
oughly. To remove coffee encrustations
from the inside of the appliance, scrape
with a plastic or wooden fork or similar
tool that does not scratch the surface
(Fig. 33), then vacuum up the residues
with a vacuum cleaner (Fig. 34).

Replace the brewing unit (Fig. 36, a) by
pushing it onto the holder (Fig. 36, b)
and pushing in the pin (Fig. 36, c). The
pin must be inserted into the pipe at
the bottom of the brewing unit
(Fig. 36, d).

Push the PUSH symbol (Fig. 36, e)
firmly in until the brewing unit clicks
into place.

After having heard the click, check that
the red buttons (Fig. 36, f) have
snapped out, otherwise the service
door cannot be closed.

Replace the drip tray, complete with

If the brewing unit is not inserted cor-
rectly, i.e. when you can hear that it
has clicked into place, and the two red
buttons have not snapped out cor-
rectly, the service door cannot be
closed.

If it is hard to insert the brewing unit,
before inserting it squeeze it to the
right heigth by pressing it firmly from
the top and bottom simultaneously, as
shown in figure 35.

If it is still hard to insert the brewing
unit, leave it out of the appliance, close
the service door, unplug the appliance
from the mains, then plug in again.
Wait until all symbols has switched off,
then open the service door and replace
the brewing unit.

Running the descaling program
The descaling program allows you to
descale your coffee machine simply
and effectively. The coffee machine
must be descaled when you are
instructed to do so by the symbol
coming on.

Important: Do not under any circum-
stances use any descalers which are not
recommended by AEG/Electrolux. If
other descaling agents are used, AEG/
Electrolux accepts no liability for any
damage. You can obtain descaling liq-
uid from specialist retailers or from the
AEG/Electrolux Service Line.

The descaling process takes about
45 minutes and should not be inter-
rupted. In the event of a power failure
or interruption, the program must be
restarted!

Before starting the descaling program,
clean the brewing unit (refer to
„Cleaning the brewing unit“, page 44).

Press the "P" key (Fig. 4).
