AC
Alternating Current
Coaxial cable
Connection cable between an LNB and a satellite receiver for transmission of receivable
signals and the LNB’s electrical power.
DAB
Digital Audio Broadcasting: The system additionally offers data transmission capacities.
Data compression is carried out via MPEG-2.
Data rate
Number of data bits transmitted per second, specified in kbit/s or Mbit/s. The higher
the data rate, the better the transmitted signal.

Intermediate
The frequency range broadcast from a satellite cannot be transmitted through a cable,
frequency
and so the LNB converts it into the intermediate frequency of 950 to 2150 MHz. This
makes it possible for a digital receiver to transmit and process it.

21-pin connector for connecting the TV set to the receiver.
Swap-Funktion
Calls up the channel which was last set.

Transponder
Takes on the processing of one or more channels via satellite (receiving data from
ground control, amplifying and rebroadcasting to the earth).
Toneburst
Also called “Mini-DiSEqC”, it is a supplementary switching signal for reception from two
satellite positions. This signal contains no digital commands, but it can be used by most
multi-switches for shifting positions.
