PCL-843   User's Manual

1. In the NET.CFG file, a command “FRAME ETHERNET_xxx” is

used. This has to be consistent with the frame type the network
uses, even though this is the users choice to do so. For example:

Frame type

The command line

802.2

FRAME ETHERNET_802.2

ETHERNET_II

FRAME ETHERNET_II

ETHERNET_SNP

FRAME ETHERNET_SNP

2. At the workstations with different frame types i.e. Ethernet_802.2,

Ethernet_II or Ethernet_SNP, the image file extension should be
written as xxxx.2, xxxx.II or xxxx.SNP respectively.

You should now be able to boot the workstation from either single or
multiple image files in the server from the above descriptions.

3. Supporting different frame types at the server site.

Frame type 802.3

The server site must be configured with 802.3. The procedure is:
Load ETHER16 port=300 int=3 frame=ETHERNET_802.3
name=802.3
Bind IPX to 802.3 net=NNNNNNNN

Frame type 802.2

The server site must be configured with 802.2. The procedural is:
Load ETHER16 port=300 int=3 frame=ETHERNET_802.2
name=802.2
Bind IPX to 802.2 net=NNNNNNNN

Frame type EHTERNET_II

The server site must be configured with ETHERNET_II. The
procedure is:
Load ETHER16 port=300 int=3 frame=ETHERNET_II
name=EHTER_II
Bind IPX to ETHER_II net=NNNNNNNN

Frame type ETHERNET_SNP

The server site must configured with ETHER_SNAP.
