APPENDIX A: AF-5000 IFR Procedures
Flying an LPV Approach
The following example shows how to use the EFIS and Avidyne IFD540 to fly from KEUG to KUAO using the
GPS 35 LPV approach.
In this picture we have entered a flight plan into the IFD540 to go from KEUG to KUAO with the middle CVO
VOR waypoint. The current waypoint (CVO) is magenta, notice the flight plan has been automatically
transferred to the AF-5000 EFIS GNAV1 (GPS Navigator 1) flight plan.
Touch the AP Status Bar to bring up the Autopilot Menu.
Autopilot is Engaged
Lateral (Roll) is in NAV mode and
following the CDI needle (GNAV1 GPS)
Vertical is in ALT mode and following
the Altitude bug. Currently descending
to 3700ft
Using Vertical Speed Mode.
VNAV is Armed and ready to capture
the glide slope when it pops up. It will
follow the Altitude bug when there is no
glide slope.
+/- Vertical Speed bugs
CDI is GNAV1 GPS side (Magenta)
