STS-1 Error Definitions—Section Layer PM
Error Type
Description
ES-S
Section Errored Seconds—a count of the seconds during which at least one
section layer BIP error was detected or an SEF or LOS defect was present.
SES-S
Section Severely Errored Seconds—a count of the seconds during which 52
or more section layer BIP errors were detected or an SEF or LOS defect was
present.
SEFS-S
Section Severely Errored Framing Seconds—a count of the seconds during
which an SEF defect was present.
CV-S
Section Code Violations—the count of BIP errors detected at the section
layer. Up to eight section BIP errors can be detected per STS-1 frame, with
each error incrementing the CV-S current second register.
