Snap Server Administrator Guide
Using the Initial Setup Wizard
The first time you connect to a Snap Server via the browser-based Administration
Tool, the Initial Setup Wizard runs. The Initial Setup Wizard consists of several
screens that allow you to change the server name, set the date and time, set the
administrator password, configure TCP/IP settings for the primary Ethernet port
(Ethernet1), and reclaim the snapshot space that is by default allotted on the
volume.
Server Name
The default server name is SNAP
nnnnnn
, where
nnnnnn
is the server number. If
desired, enter a unique server name of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. In
addition to letters and numbers, you can also use a dash (-) between characters, but
spaces are not allowed.
Date/Time Settings
The Snap Server time stamp applies when recording server activity in the event log
(Monitor Menu), setting the create/modify time on a file, and when scheduling
snapshot, antivirus, Snap EDR, or Server-to-Server Synchronization (pre-
GuardianOS v4.2 licenses only) operations. Edit the settings according to local
conditions.
Note
GuardianOS automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time, based on the
selected time zone.
Changing the Administration Password
The default administrator user name is
admin
and the default password is also
admin
. To prevent unauthorized access to the Snap Server, enter a secure password
immediately in the fields provided.
Note
A password must consist of 1 to 15 alphanumeric characters and is case
sensitive.
Gathering TCP/IP Addressing Information
Snap Servers are preset to acquire an IP address from a DHCP server. If you wish to
assign a static IP instead, assemble the following information:
• The IP address for the Snap Server (required)
• The subnet mask (required)
