Pressing the power switch does not turn on the system.
No system power, or the power supply fan is not
running.
1. Ensure that the cables connecting the computer and the external
source are plugged in properly.
2. A PCI or ISA card that has been installed is defective. Remove any
adapter card that was just installed.
3. Ensure that the power override switch (situated at the back of the
machine, just above the connector for the power cable) is not set to
OFF.
4. Make sure that the power switch cable assembly is connected
properly to the main board.
5. Replace the power switch cable assembly.
6. Replace the power supply.
Executing the software shutdown from the Windows98
Start menu does not turn off the system. (Only pressing
the power switch can turn off the system.)
1. Make sure that the power switch cable assembly is
connected properly to the main board.
2. Replace the power switch cable assembly.
