Modem
Modem ring cannot wake the system up from suspend
mode.
1. Ensure that the
Modem Ring Indicator
in BIOS Setup
or
Power Management
is set to
Enabled
.
2. If a PCI modem card is used, reinsert the modem card into
the PCI slot firmly or replace the modem card.
3. If an ISA modem card is used, ensure that the modem ring-
in cable from the modem card to the main board is
connected properly.
4. In Window 98, ensure that the telephone application is
configured correctly for your modem and set to receive
messages and/or faxes.
Data/fax modem software program invokes but cannot
receive/send data/faxes.
1. Ensure that the modem card is inserted into the slot
properly.
Fax/voice modem software program invokes but has no
sound output. (Data files are received normally; voice
from modem cannot be produced, but system sound
feature works normally.)
1. Some modem adapters require a modem voice-in cable
that connects to the main board. If so, check whether it is
connected properly.

Check the speaker power, connections and cables.
3. Turn up the sound volume.
Video display
Video memory test failed.
Video card test failed.
1. Make sure that the inserted VGA card does not conflict with the
onboard VGA controller (if your system has a VGA controller).
2. Make sure that the VGA card is inserted properly in the system (if
your system has a VGA card).
3. Make sure that the VGA function setting in the BIOS setup utility is
correct.
4. Replace the video card.
5. Replace the main board.
